HOW MUCH SHOULD I SPEND ON A WEB SITE?
By H.E. Matthews
"How much should I spend on a web site?"
I'm going to have to say, from zero to the sky's the limit. I say that to make you feel better in case you've already bought one.
I am always the last one to get the latest tech toy; as I was with learning how to use a computer. Yet I knew that the internet was, in fact, the new information highway, the way to the future. So, when I first started, years ago, those convictions led me to buy a package deal from StoresOnLine. At the time, it was purported to be as easy to use as "click and drag". Having nothing to compare it to, I paid $4000 for three sites. I worked on the first site for over a year. Site developing services were out of the question, costing in the thousands of dollars. When I have time I still work on it, I'm not a quitter.
Are you feeling better about yourself now? Don't feel bad if this sounds all too familiar.
Meanwhile I came across Stone Evans' "Plug in Profits" site. It came with all the perks the high priced sites came with only better. That's right, better tech support, better training and a better autoresponder. As the name "Plug in Profits" suggests, it came loaded with affiliate products, was up and running with in 24 hours and it was FREE. A free, ready made web site dedicated to home based business opportunities and ideas.
What really sold me on this was the fact that the site could be edited and customized. For a nominal fee you could change the color scheme, move things around, create boxes or columns, add a blog and add pages and tested keywords for maximum search engine optimization (SEO). Professionally done and not for thousands of dollars but, more like hundreds of dollars.
After retiring young from a corporate J.O.B., after spending years in retail as an owner/operator and years in Real Estate property management; I finally had an internet business. I could work at home, be my own boss and figure more in the outcome of my own efforts.
Now I have time to write an ebook, a self improvement book on "how to succeed". It'll be out soon, so be on the look out for it. I learned how to do that from a $17 ebook but, only after spending over $1200 for an 8 week course.
Clearly, we all make mistakes, how much can you afford to spend on yours?
